Russia and Disinformation

Russian disinformation is today a given. We experienced it first hand during the 2016 presidential election in which Donald Trump won the Electoral College making him the forty-fifth president of the United States of America. It was a fluke election as Hilary Clinton received about 2.9 million more votes nationwide. Trump, however, won the Electoral College, winning 30 states with 306 pledged electors out of 538 handing him the presidential victory.

Anywhere else in the world, Donald Trump would have never stepped foot in the White House during his first term. But that’s a discussion for some other time. What most experts agree on, however, is that his victory was largely facilitated by a Russian disinformation campaign that targeted key states like Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
