“In life as in dreams; all is possible.” That was the heading of the intergalactic telegram that appeared in Jackson Swift’s prison cell. It went on to direct Jackson to the Office of String Travel in order to receive his next work assignment.

“Why do they always have to begin every job order with these silly aphorisms. I wish these pious do-gooders in the upper sphere would just tell me what to do and be done with it.” Jackson Swift complained to himself.

Once Jackson read his telegram a tunnel immediately appeared. It swallowed him and in an instant, transported him to the purgatorial main office. There, he found himself standing in front of a female figure who stood behind an oval grey reception desk. The svelte authoritative virgin-like damsel possessed brilliant white silky hair that gently fell on the shoulders of a white double-breasted suit. Her jacket laid on top of a white shirt and white tie. On her lapel, a shiny solid gold rectangular pin said: ‘Ms. Petunia Baldrian — Expiatory Director.’ In her hands she held a file with a tab clearly inscribed with the name ‘Jackson Swift.’ The angelic figure carefully leaned over the reception desk and with a gentle smile that showed her gleaming pearly white teeth said, “Good day Mr. Swift; I hope your stay with us has been pleasant, if not at…
